Lykke Li feat. Drake - A Little Bit Remix
I go to into a trance when I blast this in my headphones.
When I first heard Lykke Li's song "A Little Bit" I knew right away that I loved it. ("I knew like you know about a good melon."-- 'When Harry met Sally") It's also no secret that I'm a Drake fan. It started as a guilty pleasure and quickly grew into something much more.
So when I discovered that the two elements came together to form this song, joy shot through my fingertips!
Drake doesn't snatch the song for a sample and cut it up in unflattering ways. He choreographs it like a duet & does a great job at softly revealing his feelings as does she. Quite the Swedish hip-hop ballad. Enjoi.
*headphones if possible. and up waay high.

Visual, music & Country

Details magazine made my eyes pop when I stumbled upon an old June/July edition featuring St. Louie born artist Erika Iris Simmons. Her "Ghost In The Machine" series are simply amazing. Since her debut in 2008, Erika has found a creatively enticing way to merge pop culture, conceptual art & craftiness. While at the same time recycling once important cassette tapes and film reels.
"The times they ARE a-changin" for sure.
I love the African spray painted tape to coordinate with the Peace Master Rasta himself, Bob Marley.
Oh Fred Astaire! You gotta love a man that has moves. With beautiful Ginger Rogers dancing out of an old 8mm film reel.

Sir Duke Ellington! :)

Beethoven. Erika actually tried keeping much of the notes in tact, so you can still read portions of it in his hair, face & jacket.
Simmons also does custom work for people and will include any object that coincides with the portrait that she's doing. A custom job will run you about $1200 and up. 'But every case is different' as she puts it. An average cassette tape portrait 16x20 inches goes for around $1800 and take nearly 2 weeks to create. The price and the wait is worth it if you ask me though. The work is deeply impressive and to have a personal one of yourself and/or a loved one would just be literally stunning

Free Air
Gasping for life, as the breeze takes your hair.
Releasing of strife, sunlight in the atmosphere.
Cloud surfing thoughts, as your eyes catch the glare.
What's fighting is fought & yet still unaware.
The night will come later, dwell then & live now.
Circling the equator, for what's lost and what's found.

Gravity
The defined thing that keeps us all grounded. The force behind keeping the moon in place and in orbit.
"As for the science behind the action, we know that Isaac Newton defined gravity as a force -- one that attracts all objects to all other objects. We know that Albert Einstein said gravity is a result of the curvature of space-time. These two theories are the most common and widely held (if somewhat incomplete) explanations of gravity."
Sometimes in life it feels like you're falling down. Sometimes it feels like you're falling up. Or just simply falling, period. I wonder without gravity close to all of our sides.. Would we just float on into the mysterious sky? Allowing our dreams and inhibitions to grow or run wild as they please?? Better for us or worse for us? I've found that where there's a place that let's you be free and open, instead of curbing "inappropriate thinking/behavior", that's the place where a person can truly find & be themselves. Too many rules & regulations keeps the mind from expanding in creativity.
Coloring outside the lines is something every adult should get back in the motion of doing. We can't do much about gravity, but we can metaphorically shoot the theory to shit. Live life & stop letting it live you.
